Officials
from Tanzania and Kenya met early this week at Sirari border to put in place
new measures that may help to save young girls from undergoing Female Genital Mutilation
(FGM).
After the long
day meeting organized by Association for Termination of Female Genital Mutilation
(ATFGM) Masanga, a Tanzanian NGO, the highly profile meeting resolved to form a
task force to tackle the harmful traditional practice.
The task
of the anti -FGM task force will involve joint operations against FGM perpetrators among other areas
with Tarime district in Tanzania and Kuria West in Migori county in Kenya being
the key targeted areas .
