MARA RIVER IN SERENGETI PORTRAYS HIGH DEGREE OF CONSERVATION

By Mara Online News reporter
The nature of Mara River, part of which runs through Serengeti National Park is intact; thanks to the Tanzania National Park (TANAPA) for protecting the river from any environmental threats, for decades.
The Mara River originates from the Mau forests in Kenya and runs through Maasai Mara Game Reserves and Serengeti National Park.
The river empties its waters into Lake Victoria on the Tanzanian side.
Apart from wildlife conservation, the trans-boundary river is a source of livelihood to around 1.1 million Tanzanians and Kenyans.
