The UK-based organization, Rights and Accountability in Development (RAID), has accepted a longstanding invitation to visit North Mara Gold Mine, in Tarime District, Mara region, during the week commencing 30th January, 2023.
In a press statement issued today by Barrick Gold, the company says the intention of the site visit will be to show RAID the numerous initiatives North Mara has implemented to improve the lives and livelihoods of its surrounding communities, gain contextual understanding of the operating environment at North Mara and meet with stakeholders in the region.
“North Mara and RAID will also discuss RAID’s findings and methodology and pursue practical recommendations,” the statement says.
It also notes that North Mara Gold Mine and other stakeholders look forward to hosting and engaging the RAID team during the visit.
