Tanzania’s stand at the on-going International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2023) in Madrid, Spain turned into a crowd puller when visitors were treated to a cocktail party hosted by Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) and Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB).

The five-day event which started on 18th January ends today.

According to Ms Tutindaga George, an official from TANAPA in Madrid, exhibitors showcased Gastronomy Tourism which involves displaying of food and beverages and in this particular category, visitors had a chance to taste Tanzania’s cuisine and drinks.

TANAPA took the advantage to showcase the beauties and unique attractions of all the country’s national parks during the famous tourism world event.

“Indeed, it was another milestone for us as a country to open new investment opportunities especially those found in the southern national parks, “the TANAPA official, Ms Tutindaga said.

Ms Tutindaga gave an example of Nyerere National Park, the former Selous Game Reserves which she said is an ideal investment place for various world class accommodation facilities such as five-star hotels, luxurious tented camps and other unique tourism products including boat cruising, restaurants, sports fishing, night game drive and walking safaris just to mention a few.

A visitor from Morocco was so excited to see Tanzania’s exhibition and wished his country could borrow a leaf.

Another one said he had never tasted a beer as enjoyable as Kilimanjaro.

“This type of tourism shows hospitality and culture of a country to visitors and gives them a reason to come in large numbers to their stand,” Ms Zainabu Seleman from NCAA remarked.

Tourists get a close view of wild-dogs at Nyerere National Park, a rare spectacle indeed.

Six companies from Tanzania which had not joined forces at the stand were also impressed after visiting it and promised to jump on the bandwagon come next year.

“It’s a milestone to promotion of Destination Tanzania and its attractions,’’ said Ms Marie Mafie of TTB.

Meanwhile, a representative from Tanzanian Embassy in Madrid Mr Omar Khamis opened the networking session at the country’s stand and welcomed all visitors who participated in the Destination Marketing Session to promote its various videos and the famous Royal Tour.
