
Dr Faustine Ndungulile

Incumbent Member of Parliament for Kigamboni Constituency in Dar es Salaam, Dr Faustine Ndungulile, has been elected the Regional Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Africa Region.
The election was held yesterday in the Republic of Congo capital, Brazaville.
Dr Ndungulile emerged victorious after defeating three other contestants from Senegal, Rwanda and Niger.
He is a veteran physcian who served as Tanzania's Deputy Minister of Health as well as Minister of Information and Telecommunication Technology.
He becomes the first Tanzanian to hold such a prestigious position in the UN health agency.
Meanwhile, President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday congratulated Dr Ndungulile for his election as the WHO Africa Regional Director.
'You have made our country proud, and our continent will greatly benefit from your work," the president's congratulatory message said.
She said Dr Ndungulile's expertise and experience will enable Africa to have a strong voice in the international arena in tackling the continent's health challenges
