Hundreds of Tarime town residents on Saturday attended the official inauguration of a recently renovated five-star hotel, CMG Hotels Ltd, as an attraction to boost economic as well tourism activities in Mara region.
The inaugural ceremony was performed by chief guest, Minister of Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, who was also joined by several high-ranking Mara regional leaders and people from all walks of life.
Owned by famed entrepreneur in the Lake Zone regions, Mzee Christopher Mwita Gachuma, the refurbished hotel is expected to put Tarime town on the world map as a tourist destination for holidaymakers visiting the natural wonders of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
Economic analysts say the facility will transform the economy of Tarime district because of its proximity to the Serengeti which annually attracts tourists from all corners of the world.
Tarime town residents praised Mzee Gachuma for his investment to boost the hotel industry which in the long-run would attract more visitors in Mara region to the benefits of the population mostly engaged in farming and livestock keeping.
Situated a few kilometres from the Tanzania-Kenya border, this hotel plus the Magena airport would easily facilitate tourists vising the Serengeti for game viewing.
